Weekend Preview 27th-28th May 2017

This Bank Holiday weekend sees all three senior sides are in action, with home games for our 3rd and 1st XI on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Our 2nd XI travel to Clitheroe on Sunday, whilst our 3rd XI complete a Saturday-Monday double header with a short trip to Rishton.

On Saturday our 3rd XI welcome Rawtenstall to the Cliffe, with Geoff Allen captaining. Aftab Hussain returns following injury and Ethan Houldsworth keeps his place after impressing on debut last week whilst the game also sees the return to cricket after several years out for Phil Aspinall.

On Sunday our 1st XI face familiar opposition as we take on former Ribblesdale League side and current table-toppers Clitheroe. Matthew Bunn and Adam Masood return to the side in place of Sohail Ali and Paul Newton.

Sohail Ali will instead travel to Clitheroe to captain a young but talented 2nd XI as we look to press on from an encouraging start to the season.

Monday sees more Bank Holiday bonus cricket, with our 3rd XI travelling to Rishton. Richard Law-Riding returns as captain in a side that sees seven changes from Saturday’s side; Jason Kayley, Wayne Fitzharris, Matt Oddie, Joel Houldsworth, Ste Schofield and Ammar Malik all coming in.

An action packed weekend ahead as we look to get back to winning ways. The bar will be open from 12.30pm for each home game. Hope to see many of you at the Cliffe.

Weekend Preview 20th-21st May 2017

This weekend sees all three senior teams in action, with a double header for the 1st XI as they take part in the Lancashire Knockout.

On Saturday our 1st XI travel to Bacup, looking to bounce back after last week’s defeat at home against Haslingden. Allan Armer returns in place of Chris Oddie, whilst Matthew Oddie comes in for the first time this season, replacing Matthew Bunn.

Our 2nd XI welcome Bacup to the Cliffe. Geoff Allen captains, as Joel Bentham and 3rd XI captain Richard Law-Riding come into the side.

On Sunday, a young 1st XI take on Lowerhouse at the Cliffe in the Lancashire Knockout Cup. Adam Masood and Matthew Bunn return to the side, whilst David Kendal returns for the first time this season and Hamza Qayoom makes his 1st XI debut. They come in for Allan Armer, Mas Ahmed, Paul Houldsworth and Paul Newton.

Our 3rd XI are also in action on Sunday, travelling to Accrington. Jason Kayley, Mark Leach and Amaar Ali come into the side. We also hand a debut in senior cricket to Ethan Houldsworth.

All four games start at 1pm, with the bar open from 12.30 for both home games.

Weekend Preview 6-7 May 2017

This weekend our 1st and 2nd XI both have double headers.
On Saturday, we take part in the first ever competitive local derby game against near neighbours Rishton, our 1st XI travelling to Blackburn Road whilst our 2nd XI welcome their counterparts to the Cliffe.
Our 1st XI name an unchanged side from last week’s historic first Lancashire League victory over another local neighbour Enfield.
Rishton are without professional Shaun Von Berg who is yet to arrive, but have enlisted the assistance of Littleborough professional Ryan Burl for the derby. Their side also includes former GHCC player Danny Briggs.
As with every game this season, tomorrow’s game represents an opportunity for us to test ourselves against another long established Lancashire League club.  Going into the game widely regarded as underdogs may well suit us. We believe we have some real talent in our side. If we can play without fear and luck is on our side, we may just be able to cause a surprise come 8pm.
Our 2nd XI sit top of the table after impressive back to back victories over East Lancs and Enfield. We welcome Rishton to the Cliffe looking to extend an  unbeaten run to 10 games in all competitions, dating back to July 2016.
Geoff Allen returns to captain the side, whilst Niall Holt and Chris Oddie also come in. Jason Kayley, Cameron Holt and Mark Leach miss out.
Sunday sees cup action for both sides. Our 1st XI taste Worsley Cup action for the first time, as they travel to Todmorden.
We make one change from Saturday’s side, Chris Oddie comes in for Allan Armer.
Our 2nd XI welcome Todmorden to the Cliffe in the Telegraph Cup, and make a number of changes from Saturday’s side as Amaar Ali, Rhys Holt, Cameron Holt, Ammar Malik, Tim Holden and Jason Kayley all come in. Sohail Ali will captain the side.

All four games start at 1pm. The bar will be open from 12:30 for the duration of both Saturday and Sunday’s home games.
