Hawks U9s win Hyndburn Indoor Competition

Yesterday our Hawks Under 9s followed up on previous success by our U13s and U15s by winning their version of the Hyndburn Indoor Cricket Tournament.
In the semi-final, Allan Armer’s side took on Baxenden, scoring 260-1 (255) thanks to 18 from William Armer and 13 from Thomas Henderson, before restricting Baxenden to 237-3 (222), with Scott Duckworth (1-2) and William Armer (1-3) the pick of the bowlers.
In the final, we took on Rishton. Bowling first, we restricted them to 221-2 (211) with Max Cocken taking 2-2.  Careful batting meant we closed on 232-1 (227), taking the title with a 16 run victory.
Congratulations to all involved. Our team comprised William Armer, Max Cocken, Joshua Duckworth, Scott Duckworth, Thomas Henderson and Jonathan Wilson.
Victory means we have won three of the four age range versions of this competition in 2018, a very positive start to the year. Attention now turns to the season itself, as we look to follow up on a successful 2017 in the Lancashire Junior Cricket League.

Hawks U13s retain Hyndburn Indoor Title

Yesterday our Hawks under 13s side retained their Hyndburn Indoor Competition title for a third consecutive year,
With a squad of seven players comprising Lewis Elliott, Matt Litherland, Sam Anderson, Euan Vickery, Ismael Shakeel, Lewis Cartmell and Jack Roberts, we initially took on Baxenden in the semi-final, running out winners by 30 runs.
The final was a tighter affair against Church, but good bowling and smart fielding saw us take 6 wickets to leave Church on net 12 runs after their 6 overs. Sensible batting saw us past their total by some margin and even though we lost a few wickets toward the end victory was ours by 6 runs.
A very positive start to 2018 for our Hawks, this a second trophy following our Under 15s victory in the same competition last week. Like their U15s counterparts, 5 of yesterday’s Under 13s squad can return to defend their title next year.

Hawks U15s win Hyndburn Indoor Competition

Yesterday our Hawks U15s started the 2018 season with a bang, winning the Hyndburn Indoor Cricket Tournament.
In the first game, Paul Houldsworth’s side faced Rishton CC, scoring 252 and restricting them to 225, before going on to beat Church CC by a score of 247 – 236
Our Junior Coordinator Mick Deasey said ‘In all, we scored 99 runs for the loss of just one wicket this afternoon and won convincingly against both Church and Rishton. Top performances all round from the lads, proper cricket shots and only one “yahoo” that cost the one and only wicket.’
Our six a side team comprised Seb Whalley, Ethan Houldsworth, Rayhaan Hussain, Alex Kennedy, Thomas Newton and Haris Iqbal. The victory is made all the more impressive given five of these six players will be eligible to play at U15 level in 2019.
Next week our Hawks Under 13’s take part in their age category version of the same tournament, going in as Champions and looking to retain their title. We’ll let you know how they get on.
