Our final home T20 game of the season saw us face Nelson who only last week beat us by 2 wickets in the league.
Harwood batting first got of to a great start thanks to Allan and Russ. Their first wicket stand of 82 came to an end when Allan was out for 28 caught behind. Ash was next in but another wicket fell just 2 runs later as Russ was out for a quick 46 – again caught behind.
Matt Oddie came in at 4 but could only add 9 before being stumped.
Following Matt’s dismissal Paul Houldsworth once again came out of his self imposed T20 retirement to join the pro in the middle. A number of dropped catches from Nelson, a quick fire 30* from Paul and a 67* not out from Ash that included nine 4s and three 6s saw GHCC close on 193-3 from our 20 overs.
Phil Aspinall opened the bowling for GHCC and kept things tight early on. The pressure built and soon he had his reward with the wickets of both Nelson openers which included their Pro. Phil ended up with figures of 2-12 from his 4 overs.
Nelson’s number 3 started to make things interesting with some big hitting before eventually falling for 56.
With Nelson now falling behind on run rate GHCC kept their bowling tight and restricted boundaries to increase the pressure on the visitors. Wickets for Adam Masood, Ashen and Paul Newton followed and restricted Nelson to 139-5 from their 20 overs to give GHCC their first T20 win of the season.
There is still one more T20 away at Enfield this Friday. We hope you all can get down and support the team in our final T20 game of the season.
