The 2’s welcomed Rawtenstall to the Cliffe this week. On a glorious sunny Saturday Captain Russ Whalley won the toss and elected to bat first. C. Oddie and A. Masood opened and started nicely before C. Oddie was given out caught behind. In comes Solo on a mission (Darth Vader music playing in the back ground).
Solo and Masood took the score to 103 before Solo was snaffled LBW for 42. Next to the crease was R. Holt, he was unfortunately they next to leave after he was “bowled” make of that what you will.
GHCC’s own Nas Hussain was next who opened his account with a big 6. Soon after Masood reached his 50. With the score 166 Hussain was caught behind, departing for a quickly made 41. Out marches Russ Whalley!!! Soon after… Russ Whalley marched back for 1, making way for Zeain Ali. Masood was the next to go for 67 with the score 201-6.
Time for Big Shak!!!
Ali departed for a well made 23 and Leach made 8 before falling to a worldie catch. It was left to Big Shaq and Qazi to see out the remaining overs bringing the score up the 250 mark on the way. With the score at 260. Qazi was in to face his first ball and the last ball of the game…. Everyone is full of anticipation for this…He winds up, he looks like he is trying to reach the moon with this one…And… bowled… again. GHCC finished with a score of 260 Shak finished with a score of 35. Time to bowl them out!!!

Opening with Kendal and Qazi, GHCC started slowly with Kendal eventually taking the first wicket leaving the score at 70-1. Rawtenstall the started to turn the screw, taking them within 128 before the second wicket fell. Again to Kendal who for a second week running took another wicket with his next Ball. 3 down!! Masood removed a fourth, then 5,6 and 7 fell to Leach. Masood took another.
Qazi and Masood bowled out efficiently leaving Rawtenstall stranded needing too many runs from a very well bowled last over from Qazi.

Great win for GHCC!!! On to the next one
