On Saturday we played our first ever game against Milnrow CC
Having won the toss I elected to bat first on what was a hot, sunny day. We got off to a good a start with Chipmunk and Freddie Armer putting on 48 for the 1st wicket before Freddie Armer pulled a long hop to mid-on for 31
Ash was next in, but was out soon after bringing in the Schnozz at 4. He didn’t last long however, so Paddy was in at 5 to score a breezy 20 .
In came the classy Phil Aspinall next out was Tim Holden… sorry Matt Oddie for a patientzzzzz 58 bringing in the rotund skipper.
Phil was out next for a nice 28 bringing in debutant Jack Hussain who put on a rapid 25 with Houldsworth. We closed on 209-6
The Milnrow innings started with an early wicket for Maher after his customary 3 wides but then the Milnrow batsmen put on a decent stand of 70 for the next wicket.
Our pro Ashen Silva bowled brilliantly for 5 wickets, whilst Newton picked up 4 with his usual mixture of pies and jaffas. Sounds like a buffet, anyway job done 12 points
