Report by Paul Houldsworth
We welcomed Darwen to Cliffe Park this week and after winning the toss I put them into bat. After some indifferent bowling and some good bowling, Darwen had to a flyer.
We managed to take an early wicket, Kas Masood with it, and although we took wickets at regular intervals throughout the innings, we were unable to stop the free flowing Darwen batting machine from scoring runs at 6 an over. They closed on 299 for 9 with pro Ashen Silva taking 5 wickets.
Our innings got off to a good start with Matt and Hamza getting us to 40 without loss; this after Hamza was struck on the head by a bouncer from Darwen pro Savage.
Matty was caught behind then followed a procession of wickets to leave us 83 all out.
A bit of a pasting.
