On Saturday we welcomed Bacup to the Cliffe.
On another glorious sunny day, we were unfortunately minus 6 players that played the week before for various reasons so I was a little worried.
Bacup called heads and lost the toss so I elected to bat first. Armer and the youthful Mas Ahmed opened up and promptly set about the Bacup attack putting on 130 for the 1st wicket.
Ash cane in next and soon after a knackered Mas was out, bringing in another youth product Russ Whalley. The innings slowed a little after our lightning start and we finished on 244-5, Ashen unbeaten on 64.
The Bacup innings got off to a slow start with Stuart (13 overs 1-55) and Ashen 15 overs 3-53) keeping it tight.
Ash took the 1st wicket stumped by Allan, then Stu got in the act clean bowling Tim Farragher for his 750th GHCC wicket. Their pro Kemm was still there, although shouldn’t have been after the umpire didn’t hear him nicking being off Stuart.
Bacup picked up.the tempo and were looking like they could win until Chris Oddie ran their pro out from long on when he was 75. From this point the innings petered out and Harwood won by 26 runs for 10 points
